Featured Replies

Hi I'm new to the forum Ive had a quick look in the forum to see if anyone else has had my problem but can't find anything.

Ford Focus Mk1 Estate 1999

210000 miles

So last night I was driving to work (sensibly) and the back end kept on twitching when I was turning left, When I turn right there is nothing just normal. I was driving pretty slow because the twitching was little scary any way I went round a S bend, round to the left then to the right and spun out I was doing probably 30 - 40 mph I use the lane everyday so I know it pretty well so I know spinning out there wasnt normal. I got out checked the road for oil, mud, ice... ect nothing. Plus Ive had brand new tires all round.

This morning Ive been checking things got the wheels off everything looks okay to me. When I put the wheels back on I looked at the wheels and the left (passenger side) one is reasonably straight but right (drivers side) looks as if its bent in... l \. Im thinking the shock has gone it looked pretty naff. I have no idea hoping someone else has had a similar problem and can help me out.

Cheers josh

Hi Josh. It does sound like something pretty important has either broken or come loose under there. Someone should be along who may have experienced this but I do suggest you get it to a garage before using it again.

Yeah Ive give everything a good look over to make sure everything is okay, I have a lot of experience with cars so hoping I can do it myself hate garages with a passion.

rear upper trailing arm bushes are likely gone this will cause the symptoms you have easiest method is to replace the lot with a kit like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-FOCUS-MK1-REAR-WISHBONES-TRAILING-ARMS-LINKS-BUSHES-FULL-KIT-/121027963547?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3AFocus&hash=item1c2dd42a9b
