Raj-Bath
Hi, was wondering if anyone could help me with a couple of problems I am having with my Ford Focus 1.6 LX. 1, When I try to accelerate sometimes the rev counter will rise but the car does not accelerate but then jumps into life like I have put my foot all the way the way through the footwell. 2. When I try and change gears sometimes the gear stick does not engage (no noise), but other times it seems abit rough/okay Greatly appreciate any feedback

FOCA
Its a petrol. Does your reply mean that both problems are linked? Very much a novice :) Yes - could be linked to a clutch fault
luke.grimbley
As others have stated, it sounds like the clutch. Check the clutch fluid level and if its low it could be a leak. It is shared with the break fluid cylinder however so unless your breaks are new its normal to see a drop in the tank. Also check if you can see any wet/greasy looking areas near the master and slave cylinder, this too will indicate a leak. What's your mileage? Any work been done recently? mick85
It defo ain't fluid leak if clutch slave is burst u would loose pressure an have no pedal sounds like clutch slipping cause only happen during acceleration
luke.grimbley
Not necessarily if its a slow leak, the clutch would still disengage and slowly engage causing the gears to stick? Just thinking there could be more than one issue. I agree though that the best guess is the clutch slipping. Luke
