Bits In The Boot?

Featured Replies

I have just bought a 10 plate Focus 1.6 Zetec Auto, and in the boot under the spare I've got a few loose bits rattling around. I'm assuming they are meant to be in some kind of mould to hold them, or case, or something - but I don't have it. So I have two questions:

1. Can I get a mould or something to hold them? If not (or if this is difficult to do) then does anyone have any clever suggestions for keeping them from rattling about but storing them in the same place under the boot?

2. Can you help me to identify/confirm my thoughts on what they are for?

A - Locking wheel nut?

B - Some kind of eye for attaching to the rear bumper to tow stuff?

C - The tool for undoing the nuts on wheels?

D - From what I can tell this looks like a spare for the pins that keep the parcel shelf in place

E - I've worked out that this is for securing the spare into place in the boot

Cheers!

 Hmmm I think 'D' is for taking the centre hub cap off the wheel, or for pulling hub caps off, I might be totally wrong though, :afro:

Have look around on ebay or maybe a scrappy failing that it could be a ford jobby :driving:

B is usually the tow eye for the front bumper, possibly rear too.

D is for pulling the cover off the hole for the tow eye.

Whose nicked the jack?

A - Correct, locking Wheel Nut

B - Tow Eye, screws in after removing the cover on the front left of the bumper.

C - Wheel nut tool

D - Not 100% but i think that's a safety pin that would have been in the jack at one point.

E - The screw that holds the jack in.

The tow eye, wheel nut tool and jack screw are all normally attached to the jack and cant move. The locking nut would be better off in the glove bx or something. Best guess is someone has knackered the jack at some point an just chucked all the bits in without it.

Luke

you need a jack and a spare tyre - unless you have taken that out.

go to a scrappy for look on ebay

the bubbled paint says it all theres been a leak into the boot garage took out the spare tyre and jack never put them back the bubble paint trail and dark spots show waters been in there if you phone the garage up they may just find them for you

A - Locking wheel nut? Correct, KEEP THIS VERY SAFE, They're beggars to replace

B - Some kind of eye for attaching to the Front/rear bumper to towing? Correct

C - The tool for undoing the nuts on wheels? Correct

D - From what I can tell this looks like a spare for the pins that keep the parcel shelf in place Centre cap removal tool as stated

E - I've worked out that this is for securing the spare into place in the boot Correct

The inserts depend on whether you have a full size spare or a space saver type.

Also you haven't listed a Jack, Do you have one?

The jack can also have a retaining clip for the tow eye (indicated on picture).

You should also have foam inserts in the boot, If you don't then these are what you need (Different depths depending on spare size, Boot floor mat also depends on tyre size) -
