Fiesta Lx 2005 54) Central Locking

Hi,

I've just bought a Fiesta LX 2005 5 door and had a few questions;

1. It only came with one key (non remote). Does the LX version have remote capability and where can I get a replacement key?

2. I'm having trouble central locking the back passenger doors. Is there a knack to getting this working?

Thanks,

Ben

Hi ben,

1. The LX does come standard with remote locking but your key has been lost. A trip to a ford dealer is probably in order... Which costs a LOT.

2. The central locking on the rear doors should activate when either of the front doors is locked. Sometimes thy stick on older fiesta's (Mine have done) so oil them up and they should be better hopefully.

Hi,

I've now got a remote which works for the car, but the back doors still aren't working. What is the most likely issue with them and where in the car shall I look to fix?

Sounds like it could be anything from a relay or fuse to the complete lock mechanism, (I don't know if the rears have their own fuse but both not working seems most likely) so check the fuses or hunt down a cheap mechanic as the fiesta isn't exactly a rare/hard car to work on

For programming more keys, dont go to Ford, call out an auto locksmith who uses IDS. It will save you a lot of money in the long run.

If the front doors unlock and the back doors dont, it sounds like you might have a wiring issue. if you have the remote now, unlock the car, and sit in the car. press and hold LOCK and UNLOCK together for three seconds. This should activater / deactivate the anti hijack feature. You may find that this resolves the issue. I know this works on the focus and I would hope it works for the others too! :)

I'll have a look at the wiring over Christmas and the fuses. Hopefully it will be an easy (and cheap) fix!.
