Cracking Sound From Inlet Diaphragm/valve

Featured Replies

Over the last few days I have a number of issues with my Ford Focus Estate Diesel 51 plate.

From battery died, replacement of idler pulley/Tensioner unit and Alternator not charging but after doing the last job I thought I still had a sparking coming from somewhere, it turned out to be coming from the device which sits on top of the inlet manifold.

Its like a diaphragm unit with an electrical connector going to it.

Think its called an EGR Valve

Every so often it given a loud crack like an electrical crack or explosion from the hole at the top.

Can anyone identify what problem I have and is it serious.
