Injector Seals Fault

Hey guys, some of you may remember me as that bloke in afghan struggling to find out what was going on with his MOT haha,

First of all, im back from Afghan safe and sound and you guys were invaluable with the problems i had with the car,

However i am back with more faults, My first turbo blew up about a year n half ago, the second 8 months later, nothing was diagnosed as to why they were doing it, it was put down to fitter error, however Ive been using a garage literally down the bottom of my road who fitted the third turbo and they have finally come back to me with some solutions,

Basically all four of my injectors are leaking, and not one of the previous 7 yes 7!!! mechanics has bothered to either check, or rule this out! shocking isnt it!,

i have been quoted 150 for the work which im sure you will agree is fantastic but the issue is these injects havent just started leaking its been happening over the space of the length ive had the car which is going on 3 years now, and they are basically cemented in place, i have been putting 'Gun oil' (im in the military so gun oil strips carbon from weapons why not injectors right? plus its cheaper than WD40)around the seals daily to break up the carbon however the injectors i fear are still stuck fast as i darent do anything to them as i dont have the expertise to do it,

So my question is this, because they are cemented in place by carbon how do we get them out? the pullers they used didnt shift them at all, so could you possibly suggest ways to get them out? (preferably without breaking the rocker cover or damaging the head in the process?)

My Car is a Ford Fiesta Zetec S TDCI 05 facelift model

Thanks in advance guys and girls

Rob.

Welcome back Rob, glad to hear your safe sound and well! as for the car, she sounds like she is going to be on the messy end of a repair bill :(

if you cant break it out, the only thing to do would be attack it, chisel and hammer a socket around them or something to try and break the carbon apart with the gun oil on there. However, I have a feeling that its not penetrating deeply enough.

You might find its best to get the engine hot / to temperature, and then start applying the oil. Hopefully the heat will expand some of the carbon, and as it cools, draw the oil further in to help dissipate it, but to be honest, this is probably going to take longer than your patience will stretch to.

How much would it cost to get the bits from a donor car and do a transplant? as you might have to go all army style on it...

well ive been quoted 150 from my garage to switch, the injectors with a full carbon clean however the amount of carbon thatis there.. probably add a couple of hundred for labour charges but i will be down there with them as well scrubbing away so ill do alot of the work in the garage myself, while they are doing other things,

ive been bringing the car to temperature and applying the gun oil but the car is beginning to get really sluggish which is screaming at me that the turbo is about to give out, and that the carbon was sort of 'fixing' the seal fault, because not alot of the air is escaping but its still using alot more fuel than it should be,

and by a transplant do you mean take the rocker cover completely off with injectors in tow? or break its off and replace from a smashed up fiesta? rocker cover itself is only 35 quid to buy so im confused lol

to be honest if you need to replace the full lot and its cheap enough to buy new then thats the best bet, but I imagine more problems would come about.

hopefully a bit of elbow grease and a generous amount of heat will help. A blowtorch directed at the carbon might help to break it more quickly and at least help you to get the injectors out.

only other thing i can can think of is an engine rack attached to a hook welded directly to the injector (yes ive seen this lol) basically using the cars weight against that of the stuck power of the injector,

however ill just have to see what my garage says if there are no other ideas lol, have you worked on this model before jeebo?

as soon as the injectors are replaced and sorted the car is going up for sale anyway i cant afford this anymore, gonna go back to the none turbo diesal ford focus, as this was my 'dream car' and its been hell! from start to finish i love the car because damn it racks of costs when there are imcapable mechanics!
