Mot @ Ford Or Usual Garage?

Featured Replies

Quick question, I have a £15 off voucher at Ford for an MOT but wondered if Ford are trustworthy when it comes to MOT's? Will they make up problems/advisories to make you spend money?

Or am I best off going to my local trustworthy garage who I always use and pay normal price?

Advice appreciated

Hi Byron,

I find Dagenham Motors in Gillingham very trustworthy, so to be honest, I would say use the voucher, however I think you use SMC and I dont have any particular experience with them. The question is, do you trust Ford more than £15 :p

I think to be honest, if you trust the garage down the road, get them to do it. You might spend another £15 but you have the peace of mind they wont invent something that perhaps a dealer looking for a few quid for the christmas coffers might!

To be honest, it entirely depends upon the dealer. Some are decent and honest, some are crap.

If you don't have any experience with them, I would second what James said - go somewhere else, its not worth taking the risk, as in my experience some are known to sometimes invent problems, or be too fussy with some MOT failures that could otherwise easily be an advisory, meaning you don't have much choice but to have the repairs done at them, costing £££.

Cheers guys, i will go to my usual garage then. Cant be arsed with arguing over something for the sake of £15

I think its actually only a £10 saving anyway, Ford charge £45 and my local charges £40 :)

If you're car is 4 years old then Ford are now doing the Motorcraft +4 offer which means that the Ford dealer will do your MOT for £35 or £30 with a service. Seems like a good deal
