Abs Coming On

Featured Replies

Hi i have a 99 plate focus left abs front brake comes on while driving and judders to a stop removed fuse drives ok but warning light on any ideas how to fix is it just a cable or more

Thanks guys top site

When you remove the fuse, does the car judder at all? it could be a faulty ABS sensor or a damaged loom, but it sounds like the brakes are being applied, so it could also be a piston issue?

hi no juddering now the fuse is out

someone says clean sensor or replace cable

Yeah, cleaning the sensor will probably be difficult. I tried to remove my sensor and it was welded in place by rust and muck, so if you start the job it may end up a destructive finish!

With regards the loom, that is probably the easier part. Ford replaced mine at a cost of about £56 recently, but if your handy with a spanner, you might find that its easier and cheaper to do this yourself.

Either way it sounds like there is a fault on that ABS circuit so cleaning / replacing the sensor / loom should resolve the issue.

I would say that if you do replace, make sure you do so with a genuine part. Using an odd aftermarket cable could be more trouble than you have right now.
