How To Make My Focus 1.6 Zetec Faster As Resonable Cost

Featured Replies

Hi all

I'm sure this topic has been up alloy but I need Ideas to make my 2003 Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec SE faster/ better acceleration. This will be need to be done at a reasonable cost. And would remap benefit and 10 year old car?

Thanks is advance.

remaps pointless on a n/a petrol better off selling it getting a diesel and map that

ive stuck a k+n panel in mine no noticable difference really

You can also change the air feed to the filter box for one off a 2.0 Automatic. The standard feed only allows a bit of air from under the bonnet lip to feed into the air box. The 2.0 Auto takes the feed from behind the front grill allowing significantly more air through. Even with a performance panel filter you wont notice much difference this time of year but come the summer you should find it bogs down less than they do normally on hot days.

To be honest, the age of the car, and the fact its a natural aspirated petrol, you will invest a lot of money for very little gain, barely any in fact!

the best thing you can do to get more power, is a darned good servicing! anything else will get you about 5 horses for a turbo and maybe the same for a new exhaust if your lucky. As

mentioned, if you want more power, you need a turbo, so either a turbo petrol, or a diesel.
