Order and Delivery Date?

Featured Replies

Long time no speak eh? - Been very VERY busy with coursework for university, lol.

Anyway, I rang my dealer yesterday (well actualyl i spoke to the receptionist and system team) who told me there was STILL no confirmed build or delivery date. They did reitorate that my order was placed on 27th March, and that it could take anywhere from 8 to 12 weeks for it to be built - meaning the delivery date should be sometmie within June, if not earlier.

However, I'm not realy satisfied with the service Iv'e been given - more specifically the lack of information iv'e been told!

Now, obviously its only becuse you all seem to have got your delivery date within a week or two, but mine has been almost a month now and i'd be lying if I said I wasn't getting a little worried.

Any sugestions on what I should do? I think perhaps its partly due to the high spec Iv'e ordered, or the fact that he must have alot of orders at the moment - but that's the same situation as with you lot and you all seem to have had your dates by now, if not your car!!!

I'm realy stuck for ideas, apart from going over to the dealership to hand over my retention document for the private reg and questioning him in person - problem with that is I don't have the retention doc yet! lol.

Any Ideas as to what I should do? I don't want to start complaining or yelling becuase it won't do anything - It's probably not the dealers fault - but either way he is the responcible party at the moment!

I just want my car dates :(

Ive just come off the phone with the police, reported you missing!!! lol, welcome back.

I kinda had the same issue with my dealer about dates, and it 99% of the time isnt the dealers fault. Ford dont seem to be great with dates. Other than ringing them every 3/4 days there isnt a lot you can do im afraid!

Was just about to start a "where is JAR" topic lol

About delivery dates. It seems to me that the delivery dates that most people were given turned out to be wrong in the end and people were only getting accurate dates a couple of weeks before, imo dealers make up the delivery dates!

My spec is similar to yours and i ordered on 21 march, build date only confirmed 18th April which has been given as 20th May.

Going on this I would hope to have the car by very early June at the latest.

What should you do? I reckon you go down there and attempt to get answers, If you are paying in cash, tell them your money is all over the place and you need lots of notice so you can get it all together, and if they dont give you info then it will be them waiting for you to get the cash...

Thats what I did and they pulled their finger out their backside, got on the computer and showed me info!

Its true, ford seem to be quite bad with dates. The best thing to remember is that the dealer you are buying from isn't Ford, they are basically just a shop that sells fords, and they only know what ford lets them know.

tbh ford seem to have really scaled down production, but they have taken it a bit too far

Your just feeling like this because your excited and want the car NOW. and want to know when its going to be built etc. etc.

I ordered mine the 6th of March...... 6th, yes like 6 and half weeks ago!! Mine has not been built either and as of 4pm yesterday mine has NOT got a build date either. Up till last week i was very frustrated and wound up, now i'm just back to looking forward to getting it and know it'll come when it does.

There has been a big delay with the Titaniums, especially though's with a lot of extras on. Even on this forum people have had to wait nearer 12 weeks for their cars, and usually only the orders with lots of extras. I've just got in my head now thinking my paperwork says estimated delivery 15th May. Means in 3 weeks time If i dont have a build date then I can start "complaning" and challenge the dealer on the delay and seek money off. As in the contract it says allow "some weeks" either side of the estimated delivery (something reasonable) before you can claim the contract has been broken. There's someone on here (cant remember name) who was told Thursday last week their build date was yesterday (monday), they ordered titanium with some extras and order date was within a week of mine.

Either way my car will be amazing for me and reaslisticaly it will be worth the wait and I wont be cancelling my order anyway, except maybe asking for more money off due to the extended delays. Dont loose the excitment you had when you placed you order!!

I've been made aware that ford's system gets updated on thursdays and updates details for dealers. I would recommend untill you get a call/confirmation to ring once a week on thursday afternoons. It will reak up the wait a bit for you!

Either way good luck, and just thnk the likelyhood is you over half way through the order process now! :)

Hope helps,.... and does not !Removed! u off. lol. not my intention!!

P.s. My bro's gf ordered hers a week before mine (Zetec S) with plenty of extras, and she got hers 3 and half weeks ago! And im still trying to think positive ;)

but as you've just said its not the dealers fault. They only have access to a "customer system" ford provide for them to get their information from.

There is no point in chassing to that extent. It will just make things too negative about your order. The car will be built when it does. Ford have the orders and will allocate build dates as and when it fits (parts, batch, colour, extra's, dealers).

I ordered mine 6th March, so im interested in what spec your was jonny to get your build date before mine? Though to be honest im more inclined to think your dealer has given you that date to keep you quiet. When your given a build date its usually within a 2 week period from date allocated so they can accurately assign it. What's the bettin your car gets built before that date, or at least not on the date the dealer has given you.

I want my car yesterday,.. but im still going to love it when it comes in god knows how many weeks time!

I wasn't majorly hassling them, I left four weeks before making any contact, then when i went in I got "salesman off, system down" (this response was almost instant, literally, i went in for an update for the first time in 4 weeks and i was practically shown the door) went in again the salesman was in but I got "no info" Then he called me a couple of days later with the info... I missed the call, so i went in and was shown the detail (I dont do business concerning £14,000 over the telephone)

I still dont have paperwork and I have been told that this will be ready for collection by friday, after this I will leave 3 weeks, then i will be at the 8 week mark, ie: the date i was told i would definitely have the car by, back when i ordered. At that point i will chase for a second time. Twice in 8 weeks aint bad! Some people are calling every week lol. Anyway, me and my salesman have a good relationship and there is nothing particularly negative as of yet. I was actually the one who told him that I understood the fact that there was nothing he could do!

I only started mentioning the money as i wanted the paperwork...

There is a bit of a spanner in the works though as my existing car will have to go off the road on the 20th may

The accuracy of the dates doesn't bother me tbh, just as long as i can see things moving along... My dealer has been getting cars turning up a couple of weeks earlier than planned, so i think the dates are just vague computer generated estimations anyway!

Also i've spent most of my life in retail so i know what makes up an irritating customer and as such I make a strong point of being a very good customer

I imagine that the car could turn up anything from a week before to two weeks after the given date

The car is well specced............

totally understandable. but me personally feel that for a £16k car once a week after the 3 week mark is reasonably. considering it should have had a build date. I was frustrated and got annoyed i was not in the loop. Now its just got to the point (for me) aslong as im gettin updated (weekly) there is not a lot more i can do. They have confirmed with ford there is no issue with the order, its just awaiting allocation for build date, which will happen when gets closer to end of que.

And they have told me as per all their previous orders that I should expect the car in about a 2 weeks period after the build date.

I get what u mean, and accept it. Just as being in retail myself (like you), as someone else has already said its just a shop, the dealers have no real control other than to check everytime we chase.

Im not going to get to wound up or worried untill it gets to my estimated delivery date and nothing has happened, in terms of no real progress from when i placed my order. (hope it does not get to that).

My order therefore, from estimation is going to take aproximately 3months and 1 week. Given estimation to be accurate though at the time was told should be a lot sooner. Then again these delays did not seem to be in place to orders before the past few months?

Cant wait for you guys to get yours, love looking at new cars and owners talking excited about them. And i certainly cant wait to get mine and do the same :)

Its looking like 10 weeks for me. So i will be without car for 2 weeks. I will leave 11 weeks until i tell them that they have wronged me, lmao

Planned visits:

Friday: to pick up paperwork (should have detail on it so i can track the car using fordetis)

next week sometime: to make a large accessories order lol

I just want to keep things current if you know what i mean, but at the same time making some small progress in other areas of the purchase.

God, I ordered mine (zetec s) 2 1/2 weeks ago, wasn't bothered when i got it.

After looking at the pics on here I dont think i can wait 3 months for it, I WANT IT NOW!!!!!!! 59 plate will nearly be out then.

Also my 06 fiesta's MOT is due on may 22nd and it's part of the deal with the new fiesta, i dont want to be coughing up any more cash!!!!

Glad im not the only one in that boat. Mine will have to come off the road, it would fail badly.

Glad im not the only one in that boat. Mine will have to come off the road, it would fail badly.

I managed to get a car to borrow whilst my car was being delayed, so you might as well ask if they have a car to borrow if your in trouble.

No-one involved in the quoting, ordering, or building of your car, has yet given you any bad service, nor a problem, nor poor information. Ford simply cannot produce the car as quickly as you would prefer. You only ordered it at the end of March...it is currently only the 21st April.

"I'm not realy satisfied with the service Iv'e been given - more specifically the lack of information iv'e been told"

Service from who? - Us? who told you clearly the estimated leadtimes Ford was giving their UK dealers before you ordered, or the dealer who told you the same...or do you mean the technicians at the factory? As other posters have stated, in a bid to bring calm to your car order, the dealer will see a build date appear on his screen when the factory can allocate yours a date for production.

Fiesta was the best selling UK car for the fifth month running in March, the order bank is heavy, which is why orders are estimated by Ford at c.10-12 weeks and you were told this. A factory order can only be estimated until they can schedule a date for you car among the thousands they are building.

The dealer has ordered the car, and now, like you, is waiting for yours and all the others he has on order- just like the last few hundred Fiesta orders he has delivered.

If Ford achieve their estimated timescales we hope it will get a build date in May, if they have slipped on production since your order went in (Titaniums and 3drs have the most demand right now) then the dealer, and we, will know as soon as Ford confirm any dates.

Once it has a confirmed build date, it will be at the dealership approx' 3-4 weeks after that, pending Ford's shipping times and them distributing it to the dealership. The dealer is responsible for processing your order through to the manufacturer, which he has done when asked to, he has no other information at this early stage which he could reasonably be expected to be sharing with you. He is not building it himself and has done nothing wrong, or slowly for you.

Implying poor service, and a suggestion to "question" the dealer over his apparent tardiness, waving a retention certificate in front of him (a document he can only do something with when he has a car to apply it to) after less than a month since ordering a car not expected for almost 3mths, is rather premature.

There have been plenty of Zetec S around coming through as pipeline cars for faster delivery. The spec' of your Titanium had to be ordered from scratch as you have many high-price extras in terms of cost...and you were aware of Ford's estimated factory build times from the start.

I have checked for you today and there is still no date on the factory schedule for your car...which is exactly as expected in under a month since ordering a highly-spec'ed Fiesta.

The dealer is as perplexed by your new comments here as we are. Your expectations were managed very, very carefully by all concerned as your many posts on this forum had already been noted by us when you were deciding what to order.

Please simply accept the information you were given from the start. A friendly call or mail to us, to check things out if you feel timescales at this early stage are not being adhered to by the car manufacturer, is more likely to get the right reaction, rather than a public request for advice for on how to force a miracle-build from a dealership employee who has been ordering Ford's successfully for over 12 years ..and does, believe me, know what he is doing.

Yours, patiently..but slowly ;) reaching for the restraints (!)

yes, i agree. Its a public forum and the banter on here is intended as such. A formal reply as per is not really suitable. In my opinion!

I've moaned about my dealer on here cus im excited and just want my car, but they have done nothing wrong really and their hands are tied along with everyone else's for such a popular car.

I would not expect my dealer to come on here and reply in that way, its unacceptable.

The message if at all should have been sent privately and not in a way to attempt to "shame" a customer.

Even though it is correct in everything said?

I've had the misfortune (at times) to speak to Jar about his car ordering and to be perfectly honest, for whatever reason he finds it very hard to take things on board. I repeatedly told him what was what to no avail.

He implied bad service in his post based on absolutely nothing.

Jo has every right to come on here and put their side of things forward and to explain everything that needs to be explained.

I don't think Jo has bad mouthed anyone, if anyone has done that it's Jar, again. His impatience is nobody's doing other than his own. It's not the first time either. Estimates are exactly that, estimates. There was no date set as per a contract, the car will be made when it's made as everyone who buys one is told. Yes, when you order the giddyometer rises and waiting is painful, but bad mouthing people or companies helps nobody.

Do you honestly think if Jo had used the PM with Jar he would have come on here and put that side to us?

He even suggests the correct reasons why it's taking so long in his post.

He's had me on the end of my tether previously and to the extent of I will now not go out of my way to do so again. There is only so much people can do to help others but when it's thrown back in your face, what are you supposed to do?

I didn't say it was incorrect Keith, I said it was ill considered.

There are many reasons for this - im not sure i can be bothered to list them.

understand, and taken on board. however, public forum, its neither professional nor appropriate no matter how true or correct it is.

I cant say Jo was wrong with anything he said, to be honest i agree, but how it was put forward on this forum i did not feel suitable.

Either way, whats done is done and I dont want to be carrying on debating. Just put my personal oppinion forward on a public interest forum. Excellent dealers taking interest in the forum, if anything should provide better service for us and give them great insight. but issues, complaints and such a reply, bit overboard for my liking, no matter how true it was.

hope makes more sense where i and likely Jonny coming from.

Car soon... wohooo ;)

Which would be a fair comparison if you hadn't made another 220+ posts.

But, the only time Jo has felt the need to come on here personally as a representative of Deal Drivers was to put right things that were said about the company. What are they supposed to do, just let it go and let people think different and possibly affect buisness.

They have a right to defend their corner, that's all Jo has done, nothing more, nothing less.

Nobody has had a go at Jar for having a dig at the dealers just because he is impatient, or do you believe it's a one way street?

If Jar hadn't gone public and got in touch with the dealers or Deal Drivers privately, then there would have been no need for Jo to approach this forum, in fact I doubt she would have registered. It was Jar who went public, not Jo.

I'm not defending JAR

Jar didnt name dealdrivers or the name his dealer in the post (dealdrivers is in his tag if you want to be pedantic)

Jo's reply was written like a rant directed at JAR

Dealdrivers previously said that they just put you in touch with the dealer at the set price (So their job presumably finished weeks ago anyway)

do i need to continue? theres more if you want it........................

give me more. Lol. I did actually talk about DealDrivers in the post, but I removed it before I posted. As far as Im concerned it's nothing realy to do with dealdrivers? I can't realy see why dealdrivers are even involved??? As you said, their job ended weeks ago.

I'm not having a go at anyone or anything, just excited (as said previously by others).

Why do my topics always seem to end in such controversy? lol.

All I was looking for was advice on how to persue the dates and such like.

And for the record, everyone can say what they want - especuially on forums! - It IS the internet, afterall! (i.e. If i want to rant about how rubish the ford delivery system is (not saying that it is, just an example) then I can! Thats the beauty of opinion and the internet. lol.

In responce directly to Keith... I wasn't looking for a !Removed! arguemnt! Why SHOULDN'T I comment about my opinions!?! Its a forum, thats the entire point of such a thing.

Personally, I'm getting pretty fed up of debates being constantly fired up from peoples opinions being posted on the forums.

I completly understand why DealDrivers would respond to my message - they have every right to comment. Its not a big deal realy is it?! I'm just asking about my dates.

!Removed! HELL! (JAR = Bad mood today)!

How the hell have I bad mouthed anyone! i don't think Jo has bad mouthed anyone either! Iv'e gave my opinion, he has given his reposnce. Simple as that!

//IMPORTANT BIT:

thank you Jo for your responce - I understand that estimates are as such etc etc... All I was asking was wether I should be worried or not, as others have commented on how they were slightly concerned when not receiving their delivery dates after several weeks.

As for DealDrivers and my Ford Dealer - i have complete faith in them and are not trying to have any issues with them - I was simply asking how long I could be expected to wait, as others seem to have waited less time! My dealer is a very good dealer, and has a good reputation too!

I have every right to ask others opinions about companies, dealers, delivery dates or anything - Its a forum - thats the whole point!

Seems some people on here are taking everything to heart.

//END OF IMPORTANT BIT!

Whats with people reading into what opthers say! All I have said is that I don;t know what to do now as it seems everyone has had their delivery dates within 2 weeks, and i havn't had mine yet!

Talk about a fiasco over nothing!

Jo has only made 2 posts on this forum and both have involved a thread started by Jar.

I'll say no more.

Keith, I'm not being impatient - I was asking when my dates could be expected! You are reading into what I am saying all wrong.

What the hell has that to do with anything!
