A mate has had a letter from his insurer saying they've decided not to invite him renewal after consideration. He had a bump earlier last year but withdrew his claim. Is this going to affect his quote and is this a refusal?

A mate has had a letter from his insurer saying they've decided not to invite him renewal after consideration. He had a bump earlier last year but withdrew his claim. Is this going to affect his quote and is this a refusal?

Insurance companies do ask if you have ever had insurance refused, but as he didnt ask to renew, this isnt a refusal. Main problem will probably be getting his NCB confirmation as it would seem they think he has claimed, even though he withdrew the claim.

Does he need to tell the insurance anything.?

Firstly find out if the insurance company think he has claimed, if they say he hasnt, get written proof of no claims bonus.

That way you're covered. Also as said before if he didnt ask to renew the insurance then that letter cannot be taken as a refusal to cover, proved by the fact that he is covered by them now.

Simple really he wont have to disclose any of this to insurance

A. No claims bonus letter

Q. Been refused insurance?

A. No

Get on confused dot com, find a decent (cheapest) insurance company and his insurance will probably be cheaper next time round
