Central Locking System

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Im new to this site so please accept my apologies upfront because I know this has probably been covered but I'm having a hard time finding it.

I own a Ford Mondeo 1.8lx Tdi hatchback (W Reg 2000). It's been a great car and is a pleasure to drive. Recently though, my central locking has stopped working only when I lock the car. I cannot use the key fob to lock it because it feels spongey when pressing it (something has broken inside the fob). Unlocking it is not a problem and the fob is fine and all doors and boot work from the fob.

So, for a little while I was using the drivers door to lock the car and to dead lock it. After a while this stopped working and I found I could not lock the doors this way so I had to manually lock them from inside and finally lock the drivers door from the outside. However, I cannot find a way of locking the boot. Ive put the key in and tried all ways, but all it seems to do is open the boot.

Is there a way of locking the boot with the keys? I have both keys, one with fob and a standard one. I dont mind having to lock the doors this way, but for Security reasons I need to lock the boot.

I am not technically minded when it comes to cars but it seems crazy that if the locking system fails in this way, it allows me to manually lock the doors but not the boot.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

For the key fob problem it sound like the micro switch has broken, you can get a new one soldered on and doesn't cost a lot.
