Omex Rev Limiter

Featured Replies

I am thinking about getting an omex rev limiter however I don't whether to get the single coil or double coil ? My car is a Ford Fiesta Zetec S 1.6 MK7 2009 reg.I would be grateful if anyone could tell me the difference or which one I need.

Thanks,

Robbie

Pretty sure It's single coil .. Double fires both cylinders at the same . It's a pretty old system , Single fires them independently ...single is better because there is less chance of you breaking down with it

10,000RPM FTW!

Cheers mate!

can i ask why? i mean the vids of them look alright but whats the gain out of it?

I think it's more cosmetic than anything i mean the noise and the backfire or am I looking at this completely wrong and getting confused with anti lag?

What you want the noise and backfire?

  • Author

Yeah or is it illegal ? :L sorry I'm 17 so I'm abit of newb!

Ummm not sure on legallity, obviously it'll be off come MOT time so no worries there,

You'd need to decat the car, as backfires kill cats and extra fueling ( which all this is, is unburnt fuel igniting off the manifold ) can wreck the piston rings over times and cause it to smoke.

But if you just want a loud car, look around to other tuners and get an overrun map, which will cause it to pop and bang more than Aleppo did earlier on today, and get a full decatted, non resonated system, you'll be well over 100DB then lol.

Will cost more than the limiter but it's probably better than meddling with your electrics, also that does have warranty void written all over it.

Not sure what rev limit the engine can take before it goes bang either or chews the belt up, shreds the gear box, list goes on and on really.

Remember to hit those speeds you'll annihilate the tyres also and be doing license loosing speeds.

Ive heard a lot about the piston and seal damages on other forums and thats why i would never fit this to my car, its good yes look good but you ever see them on a fully decat car for a reason like mentioned unless you want to destroy your cat sensors and later on when the next person bugs it or later on when you own it if your prepared to pay the huge repair bill if you need a full engine rebuild or pistons and rod damages i hate to think how much digits that would cost just stick a nos kit in looks just as good ;) i joke lol

Thanks Matt very good detailed information! :) too right Daniel I think you guys have put me off this now which is for the better it sounds like! Another quick question is that what are the consequences of not declaring any mods when buying insurance I mean I'm prepared to pay the £3200 with mods :( but when the quote without mods is £1500 I'm really not sure :/ thanks guys!

Nitrous is probably safer tbf

Ffffffffffffffff paying that to insure the car. It would be better to buy an impreza and insure that instead. I'm short they can deny the claim if not declared.they can also court you to recover their losses and any claims they had to pay for, uncommon but they are within their rights too, they can cancel the insurance and it makes it harder and more expensive to get insurance again

Don't even think about it. You'd be paying £1500 for a worthless bit of paper [insurance would be void] and opening yourself up to being sued for thousands.

Fair enough looks like I'll have to fork out the extra £1700 for just a dual exit milltek and alloys :(

Hey man,

I'm 18 and £750 with admiral on 1ncb! I can't remember how much it's gone up since I declared my exhaust! :S

I've got a Powerflow cat-back, plenty noise and burbles and pops all the time! That's all you be wanting without making yourself look stupid, trust me  only cost me £320 fitted too and it looks so smart! (better than the ST's dual exits IMO ^_^ ) Also, consider the car's at 3000rpm at 70 so you REALLY do not want something too loud as it'll drive yours and your passenger's nut in!

The Zetec S really needed a 6th gear... <_<

Hey!

Ahhh awesome I'll try to get a quote with admiral then ! ;D ahhh that sounds a lot better than the £630 for the milltek twin pipe ;D could you possibly give me a link as I really don't want to get to wrong one :3 cheers man!

£3200, I didn't know it could go that high >.<

I've been poking around finding quotes for A45's and the likes and they've not even tipped a grand >.<

One thing I have learned is it's all about the NCB it really makes a massive difference like 1 years NCB more than half's the first year -_- and not to mention I am 17 and and a 1.6 is a bit of a step up from a 2004 corsa 1.2 xD

I can insure an r8 for less lol
