Vibration When Accelerating (Around 55Mph)

Featured Replies

This isn't really a big deal but I thought I'd see if anyone has any suggestions...

Fiesta 1999 1.25i (no mods)

When accelerating at around 55mph there's a vibration from the front of the car (feels a bit like driving along a road with lots of small bumps that are closely and evenly spaced).

I don't think it's a problem with the engine as it only happens around 55mph. It doesn't happen when cruising at 55, only when accelerating.

Any thoughts? I'm wondering if it might be a CV joint but it doesn't click on corners.

I can live with the problem but don't want to leave it and then something eventually goes bang on me.

Check the simple things like if there are any stones in the tyre tread, this is a symptom of either this, or a poorly balanced wheel.

Best thing to do is find a reptuable tyre fitter and get them to check the tyre over for mis shape tyre, balance and alignment.

Thanks I'll give that a try. The tyres are nearly at their TWI's anyway so maybe I'll get them swapped out anyway.

Cheers,

Phil
