Towing Trial

Featured Replies

Just hooked up to the caravan to try the Mondeo and see how it tows.

Caravan is 7.26m long and weighs 1400kg fully loaded. Also 3 adults in the car

Compared to my last towcar, a Pajero 2.8 LWB

Pulls the caravan easily and accelerates smoothly and easily. Has a lot of pulling power

Braking much smoother and feels more stable. I can't understand how but it is.

Notice the bouncy roads a little more as now adjustable suspension but it's not a concern

Can't see through the rear caravan window not 'cos I'm too low now

A run involving stop/start, town driving and motorway averaged 31.4mpg

All in all, very impressive. It feels smooth, very stable and has low end torque to spare while more than doubling the fuel economy.

Also makes the caravan look even bigger :D

Just need to make sure the noseweight is correct whereas the Pajero didn't even notice it.

I'm really looking forward to getting away in it
