Auto Lights, Details On How They Work?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've recently purchased a 2012 Mondeo Zetec Business Edition, and coming from a Saab, enjoying it very much.

I'm investigating what I need to do to retro-fit the factory auto lights and wipers, as I'm pretty sure I have the correct windscreen already, and just need to check if the correct wiring loom is present. But I'm interested in knowing exactly how the lights work for the driver?

In a VW Golf that I had previously the auto lights also activated the follow me home/to car function as well, and I'm wondering if the Ford system does the same? I know the Ford has manually operating follow me home lights, wondering if the auto lights function makes that automatic as well?

For example parking up in the dark when you got out and locked the car, the lights stayed on for 30-odd seconds, and when approaching the car in the dark, when you unlocked using the key fob the headlights activated, great on those dark winter mornings. Is the Ford system similar?

Thanks,

Gavin

Well I know when you unlock the car, the rear lights and the front LED DRL's come on along with the puddle lights. When you exit the vehicle all that come on are the puddle lights iirc

Thanks,

Yeah did not have DRL's on the Golf, so should have realised on the Ford they would do the job for lighting the way to the car. But I guess the follow me home light always have to be manually activated irrespective of auto lights.
