Sluggish/slow Mondeo

Featured Replies

Hi all, this is my first post so first of first of all hi and please bare with me :)

I've got a 2.0l duratec mondeo ghia, 2001, 94k .

I've noticed that it feels really slow. Ive drove several other mondeos 1.8's and 2.0l and they all seem so much faster than mine.

Mine runs absolutely perfect never misses a beat. Just slow.

The options I've thought of are maybe blocked egr valve, blocked cat or just air filter and plugs. Just thought I'd try and get some advice before I chop the cat out.

Sorry if I've missed anything and thanks in advance.

What about fuel economy? I always tell people to check the brakes, first. It is so easy to overlook and sticking brakes can slow you down as easily as an engine down on power.

On board computer says 30-32mpg round town, don't think any brakes are binding havnt had it on a ramp yet but doesn't stick on slight hills, roll freely at traffic lights etc. The exhaust does sound a bit tinny which makes me think the cat has broke down and blocked
