Mondeo 2.5 T

Featured Replies

Hi all, I have an 03 1.8 mondeo and when I come to get a new car I have been looking at the 2.5 titanium x if I can get one - there are 1 or 2 about. Just after some thoughts on them and if they are costly to run but not in the fuel sense more like things to go wrong or expensive parts etc?? I imagine it will be a belt and not a chain aswell?? It's either a 2.5 mondeo or bmw 320 e90 170 that I am mainly looking at but I love fords so a 2.5 would be nice so any pro/neg thoughts??

If you can afford to insure it and the 20MPG is no problem - the repair bills won't be a problem either

I have the 2.5 V6 Zetec S and using Super unleaded I get from 24 to 28mpg. It actually works out cheaper to run the super than the normal unleaded (about 2p per mile I think) And its a Ford so parts are never going to be a fortune. And mine seems to be a lot rarer than the ST too. :-)

The Ford is always going to be cheaper on parts and servicing. BMW parts are expensive, however unless your unlucky they don't go wrong very often. Mine is an E92 170bhp with the Steptronic gearbox and on the last 200+ mile run I did I averaged 42mpg. Tax is the same cost as my previous 1.6 100bhp Mk2.5 Focus.
