please can you help??,

I managed to lose the spare car key to my car and only have the key with the fob on left. I have bought a new uncut key with the fob to use as a back up two questions...

Can I program the new back up key to mirror the original key myself without the original second key?..seems to be some confusion about this..

Secondly...

if I bought a normal key without the keyfob does this still have to be programmed or can the key cutting just be cloned from the original key and this would start the engine?

You need the transponder inside the key programmed to the car or else it won't start.

Call a couple of local Auto Locksmiths for quotes.

They will be able to add the key to the car's PATS II immobilser system and cut the blade in about 10 minutes.

On the Mk1/1.5 Focus you could add more keys (up to a total of 8 ) yourself as long as you had the original two keys (needed to activate the programning phase) but this ability was removed on the Mk2 and subsequent models.
