Help! Injector Problem? Tdci

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've been suffering from hesitations in acceleration from 2700-4000 rpm at full throttle for a few weeks, today I went and checked the engine bay and found fluid (diesel) around the injection area to the cylinders. 3 out of 4 of them have diesel leaking. Attached are some pictures.

I've got a 2.0 TDCi Mondeo mk4, 88k miles and this is my first issue yet.

Please help with any suggestions as to what would cause this and the damage if any it would cause, any idea about repair cost?

Many thanks!

That looks like there is a leak between the fuel pipes and the injectors (or, maybe, the injectors are not securely in the cylinders).

Has there been any work in this area recently, as it unusual for this kind of problem to happen spontaneously?

No there hasn't been any work except for servicing, which was fine 2 months the ago so I don't see that being the cause.

By the injectors not being secure do you mean the black pipe connecting to the shiny injector?

Isn't there a general problem with o-ring leakage from the connector on certain types of injectors ?

I've ordered 4 o-rings and will hopefully come Tuesday, when they do I'll replace the o-rings on all the connectors and see if that helps, the thing is that I checked one of the wet connector o-rings and it was there and didn't seem to have any cracks or damage?

Fixed the problem, it was quite straight forward, replaced the o rings on all the leak off valves, car is perfect again, took around 30 minutes.
