Battery Losing Power And Strange Things Happening

Featured Replies

Good afternoon

I have a 1.6 petrol focus on a 58 plate. recently on a couple of occasions I have tried to start the car and the battery has failed me, I have had the alternator and battery checked , both are healthy, which in my(limited) experience points to a leakage either through an earth or the failure of some board or sensor.

The car is also doing some strange things

the alarm will go off even if the car isnt locked

the headlights will intermittently come on when the ignition key is turned

the window rear wiper stuck halfway for about 5 mins yesterday.

I have had an auto electrician spend 4 hours on it on Friday and he thinks its pointing towards the EPC (I think that's what he said, he also says if this needs replacing I'm looking at a grand.

He wants to make sure of his suspicions and I'm waiting to hear back from him

In the man time does anyone know if this is a common prob , any heads up on what its going to cost and are there any work around's

This has been a really trouble free car up till now ive had it over four years , it has now done 125k is it time to say goodbye?
