Dan62
Do you know which door is causing the door open condition ? 02 was a model change year, do you have a late MK5 or early MK6 ?
Will-MK7
Have you checked the bonnet and boot? Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
gazam57
Hi,I have the mark 6 model and it appears that the offending switch is behind the door card possibly incorporated in the door lock I have no idea which side has the problem. I don't think the boot or bonnet will be causing the problem as they are not linked to the interior light. looks like the door card will have to come off, again I've no idea where all the retaining screws are located. This is a gift for my son (he's 21 soon) and this is a real pain. Your right in your assumptions. There is a GEM Diagnostic to check the switches so you can pinpoint the offending door. It is also possible for it to be a broken wire between the door switch and the GEM so check the wiring and switch out before removing the lock assembly, you will have to remove the door card to get to the wiring though. Below is the procedure for entering diagnostic mode and I have attached the wiring diagram. If you want any more info PM me. Diag mode; Make sure the wiper stalk is in the OFF position. Press and hold the Heated REAR Window switch Turn the ignition switch to position 2 Release the heated rear window switch Press the heated rear window switch 8 times (within 6 seconds) You should now be in service mode, most switches connected to the GEM when operated will now sound a tone and flash the indicator lamps. Open and close the doors to find the offending door switch. service mode will end after 20 seconds of inactivity.
