Cd Player Problem

Featured Replies

hey guys, got a strange problem with my ford 6000cd unit. when i turn on the ignition (to the 2nd notch before starting the car) the cd player starts as normal and plays from the last place it was when i turned the engine off but when i start the car the cd player jumps to a previous song on the cd.

this happens on any cd. i have used a cd head cleaner 3 times to give it a good clean but its still doing it.

it never jumps to a song after the one i was listening to last so im wondering if the laser has gone as its trying to recall up to the song i was last listening to? hope that makes sense?

have checked wiring is ok and even gone so far as to check the clamps on the battery terminals are ok!

any ideas?

This is just a guess but while you operate the starter the power is removed from the unit and I think the info on the current track is maintained by the 'keep-alive' circuit to the radio. Maybe the starter is dragging the battery voltage below the value needed to maintain the data.

when you switch the ar on do the dash dials sweep up then back down? if so the battery is low and this may explain why its not holding its memory

no the dials are fine. battery is in good nick.

could this "keep alive" circuit be corrected? am sick of changing the track back up to the one it was on whenever i start the car.
