mrgrumpy88
Hi all hope someone can help me on this. I have put a sony 6cd changer into my focus but am having some trouble. The story so far i got one of eBay as an unknown turns out got a cd error on it. I got a second unit that was said to be working was from a mondeo though so had to change some bits of the othe unit. Have spent ages in car earlier keeping swapping bits around but can not get cd player working. You push the load button nothing happens no please wait no nothing. Tired pushing the cd/aux button goes straight to aux no cd. Also have noticed that even with the car turned of and all doors locked the clock on the stereo stays on and also the mileage display also now stays on. Any ideas on this one please its got me stumped. Thank you
Celticfan
The Focus dash etc. stays lit even after you have locked the car. Goes out about an hour later. Can't help with the audio kit unfortunately.
mrgrumpy88
Thank you. The stereo one is annoying as seems like the cd player has no power to it. Its like its not even there.
Stoney871
The 6cd units used to come with shipping plugs fitted so as to stop the trays from rattling around and jamming in transit. I don't think the ones for the mk2 Focus and newer came like that. I'd say that the tray is jammed and/or the motor has packed up. I assume it's the silver Visteon model? If you get the Sony model it is more robust and far less prone to cd errors. Are you not able to send the one you have back?
mrgrumpy88
Its a sony 6cd unit. Yeah i could send it back but just can not understand why it seems there is no power to the cd player. Will try and have another look at it tomorrow.
Stoney871
Rereading your first post I note that you say the radio was a Mondeo one? That could be the problem as the Mondeo radio not only has a different shaped fascia but is also wired differently to one from a Focus/Fiesta etc. Tbh I reckon you really need to get one that is definitely not from a Mondeo and all should be good. http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=291256923790&alt=web

I have changed the power unit for the focus one so it basicly is a focus stereo but has the mondeo cd player as the focus one says it has 5 disc in there but there is none and also is stuck on ejecting. Stoney871
The circuitry inside would also be different so most likely the radio is getting confused due to it's hybrid nature. I really do reckon that a Focus specific unit is the way to proceed.

mrgrumpy88
Little update took the stereo apart again today and found that someone had taken it apart and unplugged and taped up the tape wire cling into the cd circuit board. Reconnected the wire and tried again and this time it recognises the cd unit but has same fault as the other Sony unit. It says cd error and shows that all 6 cd trays are full so back to square one. Sent from my iPhone 6 using Ford OC
TomsFocus
If its anything like my OEM Sony single CD it'll just skip and jump all the time anyway. I really should get a bit more up to date and use the aux port lol.
