Anyone removed the cigarette light and put a start button in like the focus rs



If you mean the mk2 Focus RS then some other Focus models already have a start button in the same place, mounted in the centre console behind the gear shifter.

Would be possible in theory to wire on into a car usually started with a key, depending on the wiring set-up. I did this mod on an ST170, replacing the cigarette lighter socket in the dash with a Honda S2000 start button. The button operated a relay to bring in the starter motor (same as the ignition switch) once the key was in position 2. Also had an interlock relay coming off an engine running feed to the climate panel so that it didn't work once the engine was running.
