Ford Focus Mk 2 57 Brake Lights Stopped Working

Featured Replies

Hi I'm new to the forum but basically what's happened is someone hit my tailgate on my 57plate Ford Focus Zetec 1.8tdci about a week ago an rather than have it repaired I bought a new one and has it sprayed. Now the boot is fitted everything works other than the brake lights and reverse lights. The washer works, number plate lights work and the wiper works just not the brake lights which I find weird evaluate the lights aren't even part of the tailgate. Any help would be brilliant as I have no car atm due to it

Anybody? Could use some help

Daft question first - have you checked the fuses?

If they're ok it's possible an earth may have been damaged, especially if the circuits share a common earthing point. Not sure where this would be on your car as not got access to the wiring schematic on my laptop.

Presume you've checked the obvious? The bulbs?

Was it just the tailgate that got damaged?

Thanks for the replys! I've checked the fuses and they all seem okay. Like I say the wiper works as it should and the lock but not the brake lights which aren't even part of the boot. Any help would be great
