you can but it'll be loads of money, was £400 extra just with the car.

Personally if you want one, find an ST or TX in a breakers and have one from there, least you'll be able to get the wires etc with it, Ford will probably charge for them separately.

Just bear in mind the Sony unit isn't as good sound quality wise using BT, USB or CD's as the standard unit, DAB is obviously way better. it's also slightly more fiddly...and slower when using phone options etc.

Ebay is where I found mine. Make sure you check how many plugs you have on your current one. One plug = straight swap, 2 plugs = need a DIY adaptor. Also, make sure the Sony has only one socket, the twin sockets are for a mk7.5.

Your right about slowness agree on that but fiddley a would say aye at the start but when you learn where buttons are it's not fiddley at all lol imho

I can vouch for the Sony DAB unit being pants, doesn't have anywhere near the same well rounded sound as the standard unit does! still a good bit of kit with a lot of options to play with mind you!

Same here,mine sounds ok but i see the problem saying its slow.

A better idea.

Buy a double din converter and then get an aftermarket unit, you'd do it for much less and most of them come with a Nav built in and play films, internet access the lot these days.

More functionality using USB and BT too.

Before anyone mentions theft stereo theft is pretty uncommon these days, not like the old days of brick through the window and pry it out with a flat screwdriver.

Yes thank you, next problem is to sort the wiring behind the unit. had a sub in for a while and one of the wires got cut short. I need to get it out of the block thing and fit a new one but I cant for the life of me get it out. tried forcing a pin down the side but no joy!

Right all I've got the stereo which has the option for DAB, I've connected my Ariel To the correct fitting (its the only one that fits haha) and I get no signal on any radio station. When I stick my old head unit to the Sony Fascia it all works fine so it cant be my wiring. I'd prefer to have the Sony head unit in but I do enjoy the radio. Anyone that can help id be greatly appreciative. The sound quality on the sony head unit is far better.

Have you changed the aerial to a dab one?

No mate just the basic Arial, I was told by someone else who has fitted it that it will work you just obviously wouldn't get DAB.. Really stuck now :(

no the only options it shows are fm and the odd ones that talk sport are on, I think it would need to be connected for it to offer the option. don't understand as people on here had said it worked fine for them!

You should get all the radio options: FM, AM, DAB when you cycle through with the radio options. Which, exactly, do you get, regardless of whether you get actual audio or not? And, is this with all three components installed, ie, display, facia and CD player (steel box)?

When I bought a satnav unit from a 2013 Fiesta I got all the radio options regardless of whether the aerials were connected as its 'hard-wired' into the units...this was when I installed all 3 components btw.

I installed everything screen fascia and silver box. It wants to get signal as the radio is very faint. Is there a way to reset it? As I didn't remove the battery or anything.
