  • Camskill in case anyone wondered. Pikey website but quality service and prices.

  • But they aren't actually winter tyres.

  • I've never had them either and didn't think they were worth it, but someone else mentioned the fact that you're saving your summer tyres the whole time you're using winter tyres instead. So looking at

Am right in saying this

16inch wheel is 40.64cm

So my current tyre is 50mm

For the full diamerter is 40.64+(5x2) =50.64

So if I got a 15inch tyre with 60mm is

38.1+(6x2)= 50.1cm

So that would be the closest to it being same as before I guess

Ford recommend 55s on the 15s.

That's what I've got.

Ahhh nice one cheers mate what ur winter tyres like? Feel more in control?

Still waiting for winter down here in sunny Sussex ;)

Not noticed an difference yet. Hope it snows soon.

Ahh lol come up here where I work was about 7 inch deep and where I live is 3-4inch atm but all frozen! Was wondering because I was told that winter tyres cause more traction for dry roads too so mpg goes down or is that only some tyres?

I was going to mention the tyre sizes in the brochure too, but personally I'd go for something like 15" rims and tyres that are even narrower like 175, for better grip in the snow.

I wouldn't be surprised if MPG goes down a bit, just because the winter tyres will stay soft at colder temperatures and will have more grip, and more rolling resistance too. But it probably wouldn't be a noticeable drop in MPG.

Nice one a see you got the contiental ones good reviews on them Dave and Nice stop! Yeah thinking about it as car been sliding lately when roads covered like the roads you wit driving on lol mates in Norway and Finland say nokian is great so thinking about them

Got Nokian WR-A3s, 205/55 R16 (on a focus), couldn't be happier mate. Just like driving on normal roads over snow and handle really well over wet and dry roads.

Feel a bit skittish in bends if you're too exuberant when the temp gets up 10°C+ but that's to be expected.

They are simply brilliant. Here's hoping for more snow and ice. I think the greatest of the tests I did was the video where I stopped halfway up the icy hill. As I mentioned in the description, summer tyres wouldn't make the hill let alone be able to stop on it and then get going again!

In fact, a 4x4 on summer tyres would not have been able to do that.

Just replaced my old Nokian winter tyres with a new set of Nokian WR D3's today. I managed to get 4 winters out of the old set and they have been superb. The first couple of years we had heavy snow and the car was fantastic. It was fun driving past other cars with their wheels spinning trying to get traction. The last two years we haven't had much snow but the car was still more sure footed on those dark sub-zero mornings on country roads. The old tyres weren't completely worn out. There were two sets of wear indicators on the tyres, one set for the legal limit and the other set for snow use.

I've got mine on a spare set of rims and they are only on the car for 2-3 months of the year. I've also got a set of Nokian WR D3's on my wife's Fiesta. She doesn't do a lot of mileage so I expect to get about 8 winters out of them :)
