Easy Swap Engine

Featured Replies

Hi all I have an 03 mk1 focus. What would be the best/easiest engine to swap with good results

The same engine size it comes with.

As above like for like take you best part of full day one out one in . When you do it to save a bit of time if you drop the track rod ends out then remove the forward most bolt on the wish bone and loose off the inner cv boot you can disconnect the drive shafts without taking the whole hub apart .when you take the offside one out of the gearbox that's when you will loose your gbox oil so have a bucket ready leave the othe cv in place .

Have fun

I think this has been mistaken. I would like to update the engine to something more powerful

cant imagine anything about that will be easy, also, probably cheaper getting a new car

In the nicest way to say this, you would be better and cheaper to buy a more powerful car than try and swap engines

Anything will fit with enough time and money! ;) I've done a few engine swaps now, none on a Focus tbf, but they're not too hard, easily doable over a weekend if they're similar engines (same mounts etc).

However, if you're after more power, you'll need some lube when you tell the insurance of the engine swap. ;) As above, cheaper and easier to just buy a faster car.
