This is a really bizarre problem that I can't get to the bottom of

When my car has been little used for a couple of days there is a horrible knock when driving over speed bumps, driving on rough surface and even on smooth roads. This happened last Sunday to such an extent my GF said she wasn't driving it again.

I then drove 50 miles round the M25 to work on Monday morning and by the time I got to normal roads near to work, the noise had almost gone with only a slight occasional noise.

This problem has happened twice now in exactly the same symptom/"cure".

I'm in the trade and had one of my customers garage check the drop links and ball joints and they all seem to be OK,

Anyone had a similar problem. I'm edging towards shocks.
