hi, a garage replaced the timing belt on 04' focus 3 weeks ago i since sold the car, the new owner was driving in the city 2 days ago, he heard a loud noise from the engine and the car stopped dead, can anyone help to diagnose the problem, was the timing belt replaced properly

probably not and the belt could have snapped and seized the engine

depends on who you went to, and what parts you used. someone with more knowledge on the forum will have an answer for you im sure :)

Judging by your post, it sounds like the car was sold through a private sale and not from a dealer which means the buyer has very few rights.

Was the waterpump replaced with the cambelt?

If not the bearings in it could've failed and seized the pump...

Of course, it could be completely unrelated to the belt change...a noise and no drive could be all sorts of things without further investigation.

Cam belt doesn't drive the waterpump on my 2004 MK 1 tdci.You didn't say what engine ?

thank's all, garage came up trumps, they are replacing the engine free of charge, i have been dealing with this garage for years, all worked out well.

Well that's a good result. :) Did they say what the fault was?
