Air Con And Heated Windows

Featured Replies

2 problems im havin

1, my heated rear window takes an age to clear. about 15 to 20 mins if im lucky

2, my air con comes on every time i adjust the heater controls, doesn't matter if it's changing the airflow direction or the power it comes on every time,

any ideas

Thanks

the aircon is set to windscreen if its on this it will come on automatically the rear window on any car isnt quick to demist and doesnt sound abnormal

If you do run the AC to demist it does help the back slightly as it dehumidifies as it runs. Granted, if you've a full load of soaking wet adults it makes naff all difference.

RainX anti-fog can help a little - but I wouldn't say it's fantastic

my last focus an 03 estate the rear windscreen cleared with in minutes

i still think there's a problem shouldnt take 20 mins to clear with just me in the car,

the heated front windscreen don't work either

Is your battery good? I know the front screen wont work without a good battery. Could explain the poor rear clearing as well if the voltage it's getting is too low.

It depends it can take 10 mins to clear a rear window if its cold enough or you could have water getting into youre boot.as above if the battery isnt any good or the wrong type the front screen will not work

ive noticed that it seems to take ages on ford cars, my focus and my partners festa both take an age to clear the rear compared to other makes ive driven, im guessing its a ford thing as the fronts, even without blowers on, demist really quick

possibly right about the battery, i had it in garage a month or so ago and they said battery is low and on it's way out. will get a new one and see if it makes a difference

Thanks chaps

May be worth checking the connections to the rear screen one of mine had came loose and melted then stopped working easy to check just need to undo the torx screws in the door handles in the boot and the rest pop off....could also check for voltage there too just incase its battery etc
