Focus 1.6 Tdci Very Loud Engine

Featured Replies

Hi,

The engine in my 2010 Focus 1.6 TDCI has over the past few weeks become very loud. The standard tappety type diesel noise is much more pronounced.

The only thing that's changed is I did the oil and filter. Both for genuine ford... The oil Formula F 5w30.

I'm not 100% sue it it was straight after the oil change it got loud but it does point to that.

I have tried normal she'll fuel, v-power and also millers eco max as a test. None helped.

The car has only done 26k so I'm really confused.

Any help is much appreciated!!!

Thanks

I know what you mean, this engine is driving me to a nervous wreck with that noise!

regular diesel sounds like a tractor, vpower is better but either side of 2k-3k rpm will make "the noise", if I slip some of http://www.halfords.com/motoring/engine-oils-fluids/fuel-oil-additives/wynns-formula-gold-diesel-treatment-500ml in then the car sounds great up to 3k, but only on that single tank of fuel.

id love to hear some expert views on this as im sure it didn't start life off sounding like that hopefully meaning its possible to get back to it again with some TLC!

when I changed my gear box fluid a while back it did take a wee while before I noticed the effect on gear changes, perhaps engine oil is the same?

all of this is made worse by my partners little fester being almost completely silent, !Removed! petrol's!

lol

Bump for help on this.

Mine's the same recently. Literally said the same thing this morning. Assuming it's just getting colder and perhaps we're not on "winter" diesel yet?
