Spare Wheel

Featured Replies

Evening all, I'm new here, so firstly, hello!

Just picked up my new Mondeo today, nothing flash but pretty tidy and seems a good car. It's a slate grey 2L Zetec on a 60 plate just 25k miles.

One question: noticed there was no spare wheel in the boot, so the dealer whipped one out of a Kuga which he said had the same 18" whells and gave me that. Now I've got it home I can't seem to get the carpet in the boot completely flat which makes me think the Kuga tyre might be a bit thicker (which would figure as the Kuga is a bigger car).

Any thoughts or advice on that?

the wheel well is not designed to take full size spare that is why carpet wont sit level

Perhaps I wasn't clear - it's not a full size one, it's one of those things that looks like a 2CV wheel, spacesavers I think they're called. Question is, is a Kuga spacesaver the same width as a Mondeo spacesaver, so is that why the carpet won't sit flat?

oh sorry did not read thread
