Plastic Above Grill

Featured Replies

Can anbody tell me what this part is called in this picture? Its the plastic part with the sticker on that holds the front grill on? I had to smash my way in yesterday as the key wouldn't open the bonnet. I have ordered a new lock and latch but need the plastic part. Is there a name for this? Ive been searching online for a while and cant find it. My poor focus looks ugly without the grill :(.

Any help is appreciated

Thanks

My grill is ok and not damaged. Just the part above is what i need

Thanks mate

Undo the small clips and part nos is likely to be underneath .

Power is nothing without control .

The upper panel according to Microcat is integral to the whole upper grille.

From Ford it would be about £60 upwards depending on the build level of your car.

I believe they are available seperately but might only be for the Mk2.5 version.

B.T.W it's usually referred to as a slam panel cover.

Looks exactly the same but mine is an 07 mk2. What are your thoughts on this fitting?

I'd check if your old grille can be seperated from the slam panel cover first.

It may well be possible that on the Mk2.5 they changed the design so the parts were seperated but on the Mk2 the parts may be all in one.

As the slam panel does not intrude into the headlight area the new panel would physically fit but it depends on my points above.

The mk2 one can be seperated and removed its fiddly and the clips can break easily the plastic poppers come out allowing it to be seperated at least on yhe petrol but it looks similarly built

I'm sure the slam panel covers between mk2 and mk2.5 are different. Did my usual parts site check and the part numbers don't overlap. Think it's due to the front cross beam changing on the facelift with it's different shape headlamps etc.
