hi everyone my Mondeo 2.5 v6 on an 04 plate is saying I have a fault (p1700) can anyone tell me what this is please

    P1700 Transmission system problems

    could it be low oil in transmission I was toid they are sealed units

    its a 5 speed auto

    Low oil is one possibility, alternatively it could be the tcm, fuse, or a solenoid, I would say disconnect the battery for half hour and reconnect and see if it helps to reset it.

    after disconnecting the battery and leaving it a while it seems to have solved it . I don't quite understand how but for the time being it has solved my problem . many thanks

    No worries, basically the transmission control module can get confused on signals, so resetting it allows it to forget the issues and if it happens again then it's time to narrow further
