1.8 Tdci Opinions

Featured Replies

Can anyone share their opinion on the 1.8 tdci engines i have. Mk1 and it seems rly sluggish in 1st pulling off is a nightmare 115bhp it says in the paper work for it seems slow anyone have the same problem???

Mines not sluggish off the mark mines .a mk2.5 1.8 could be something to do with the turbo or possible knackered clutch what's it like actually on a run not the fastest of motors but safe enough to get out of a junction nippy if needed .only prob I have with mine is a bit jumpy between 50/55 that said I do have a leaky injector so it might be that .

My MK2 1.8 isn't the quickest in 1st/2nd gear, but once in 3rd the power soon kicks in quite nicely. I wouldn't say it was anywhere near sluggish though.

In 3rd upwards its ok but in first it seems i have to rev alot so i dont stall pulling off and i dont get power till the turbo kicks in then it wheel spins as im turning which makes me look like a knob

have you blanked your EGR? that will help in pulling away
