Auto Gearbox Problem

Featured Replies

I have joined the forum in hope that I can get some advise on the fault with my car. Its a TDCI 130 Automatic (5speed) with 89k on the clock that has just lost reverse gear. It just seemed to stop working - no strange noises or slipping, just no movement and revs like its in neutral. It drives fine going through all gears forwards including shifting manually.

My question is, could this be some sort of electrical fault? The display on the dash says its in reverse but parking sensors don't beep when objects are near the rear bumper now.

Any help is appreciated as I don't want to have to scrap the car but I can't justify paying ££££'s on fixing it.

I have just had a diagnostic test done and code P1700 - Transmission intermittent failure Failed to neutral showed up. Code was cleared but made no difference. Any ideas please???
