Bonnet Catch - Won't Open

Featured Replies

:D Hi

I know this is a common problem and have already searched for ideas, but wanted to check if anyone has anything new to suggest? Have already drowned it with WD40 and wiggled the key around etc. As far as I can tell need to drill out the plastic part behind the badge, then drill out the two bolts and remove the locking part, it should then work ok with just a screwdriver. Problem is, what if I decide to sell the car in future and also security wise may be a negative point would it be better to pay to het it done properly?

Thanks

Had a guy who had tried for days and days to open his bonnet with the key and had no luck, I tried and experience told me the key was not connecting correctly so I pushed the plastic grill around the bonnet lock back with two thumbs and the key went that bit further in the bloke turned the key and it opened easily. If you have no luck drill it out then get a replacement from a breakers with the key for it. Better having a different key for the bonnet than a big hole and a screwdriver when you come to sell it.

Well, just tried out that and it worked! :D

Not sure if it may have been because I removed the grill a few months back and maybe hadn't pushed back into place fully, even just that few mm may have made the difference.

Thanks again :P
