Engine Non-Starter

Featured Replies

Hi all.

This will be my first post as I have only just joined the forum.

My '07 plate 1.4 TDCI refused to turn over yesterday, this was after a short local journey and the car had been left for 45 mins.

When I turned the key into start, a beep sounded, red light illuminated and computer said excessive engine temp...

The engine temp was less than a 1/4 on gauge and was not hot to the touch, I tried a few times to start but no luck, then all of a sudden it was back to normal and has been ok since.

I wonder if anyone else has come across this problem or may have an idea.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi Phil. I've no experience with your engine, but had plenty of these intermittent electrical problems. One thing you can do is check the plugs and sockets in the circuit, get some contact cleaner spray from a motor factors, disconnect the plugs and sockets and give them a good spraying. It stops current leaks and keeps out the damp. Also check your fuses are firmly in place.
Good luck.
John.
