astraquattro
Ok so I bought this car a month ago, Mondeo TDCI 130 132k on 07 plate. Been using it fine until did a 1000 mile trip to Cornwall over Christmas all fine, drove back 90/100 mph all good. Next day cranks over but wouldn't start and had a knocking noise on 1 cylinder (knocks once every 2 revolutions), checked chain tight and moving, belts the same, removed rocker cover nothing broken and all moving as should be. Checked oil and water levels all ok. Tried it again 3 days later still no start but knocking noise on all cylinders, its not top end seems like its lower than that. Could the DMF failure cause the engine to knock and not to start? Any ideas anyone
jeebowhite
I doubt its DMF related, the issue you have seems to be either timing related or belt related. Check the timing belts and chains are all intact, it may not be clear. Also check the crankshaft and its sensor. If its knocking on all four cylinders, then timing would be my point of call.
