2014 Fiesta St3 Problem, Possible Crack Please Help

Featured Replies

Right,

Im not too technical with my parts on the car so ill try and describe as best as i can.

fiesta ST3 64 plate 2500miles totally standard.

PROBLEM 1 -

I parked up in a car park and on full lock noticed a metal on metal grinding sound from my rear left wheel. also now made it on straight thought it was an arch rubbing a locked on brake. So did a bit of hard braking and cleared for now.

PROBLEM 2-

from investigating problem 1 i had a look under the rear and what i think looks like a crack in the bottom of the suspension. "see attached photos"

They look and feel like a crack as its not a perfect straight line, but is the same on the right side that makes me think otherwise.

Any suggestions welcome please

sorry about the double post, message said the server was down.

Also excuse the dirty car!

Does look like a crack but it is where the box section is manufactured and seam welded. Sounds like you had a stone caught in the disc brake.

yeah thought the grinding was properly due to salt and muck on the roads,

and was hoping someone also with an st would say its fine as its on theirs. As i haven't really looked under the car as bad as that is.

I gotta say I agree with diesel pig in that it looks like a seam weld, and as said on my other post if it's 100% symmetrical it's probably meant to be there

Not sure why being on full lock would cause a noise from the back?

But as its seemed to have gone away now I suppose it doesn't matter :)

Yeah it was strange only started when I went full lock to pull into a bay. But Exercising the brakes seemed to clear it up
