Rear Wiper Jet Not Working

Featured Replies

I have a ford mondeo 2.2st tdi estate and the rear washer jet is not working. Pump kicks in but no water comes out front washers and headlight washers work

It points to a blockage but dint know the route of the pipe

Any ideas??

Cheers ib Advance

Adam

This is a common problem on the MK 3 Mondeo - not sure about the estate version but in the hatch the washer pipe is behind the O/S rear pillar trim and is prone to disconnecting.

As above, unsure about the estate but in the hatch (saloon doesn't have a rear washer) there is a little 90 degree valve to take the pipe from the rear driver's side pillar across the tailgate to the jet. This often disconnects but this would result in a leak in this area so you should have a damp patch somewhere back there if this was the case.

If you search Google images for 'mondeo rear washer jet leaking' you'll get pics of the hatchback scenario...

Mine wasn't working when I got it and this was my first check. It was disconnected, but wasn't my fix as there was still no water getting to this point. I could hear my pump working etc as you do so knew the problem must have been further down the line.

You could check that the pipe hasn't disconnected at the pump by checking underneath for a leak.

With mine it turned out the little outlet valve on my pump must have been clogged up...I removed it, blasted a bit of compressed air through it, and it's been working spot on since.

so when you pull the stalk back for rear spray only, you hear the pump going? or are you running this at the same time as the front?

When i pull the stalk back for rear window the pump kicks in and no water there are no damo patches in the car either

Sounds like a blocked pipe to me. I would say get at the pipe and disconnect the hose see if the blockage is there
