Autobox Reluctant To Change Gear

Featured Replies

I have a 54 plate 2.0 litre automatic Mondeo with 100k on the clock. I've noticed recently a reluctance to change up through the box. I'm having to push it further through the revs before it will change.

Any ideas on a fix? The garage suggested chaging the fluid.

Changing the fluid is a good starting point. As the box is being used it naturally disintegrates some particles, these float around in the oil and can build up.. Drain the fluid, flush and refill is the best advice that can be offered.

Check the fluid level and colour for starters.

If that all appears in good order then an oil change as above would be my next thing to try (cheapest options first). Mind and change the filter inside the box too.

Thanks guys. I'll start with the fluid and hopefully that'll sort things. Otherwise I think it may be an expensive repair.
