Typical Tdci... Flashing Plug Light

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I recently purchased a Jaguar X Type and the seller said the car occasionally drops into limp mode, i guess he gets the term 'occasionally' by not ever driving the car because it happens very often.

The car has major cold start problems, when its been minus figures it will need to be turned over (until the light flashes) up to 10 times before it starts and then it sounds like its only running on 2 cylinders for a few seconds and smokes heavily, i guess the rough running is burning off unburned fuel when it eventually does fire.

I've tried changing the crank sensor and changed the fuel filter.

Car recently had a new flywheel, clutch, airfilter, oil & filter change.

It seems to drive fine until the light flashes and it dies. The engine does sound slightly rough when running.

My next step is to perform a leak off test.

I am lucky enough to have Ford Diag & Formidable so can check values etc if you guys can tell me what to look for?

The car is a 2005 X Type 2.0 TDCi

Hi. I've just had a great big fat problem with the flashing glow plug on the same 2.0 engine in my Mondeo. But got to the bottom of it. Have you teste the actuator or had the codes read yet? :-)

There is a thread stuck at the top of the mondeo forum with flashing glowies issues.
