Upgrade Ford Sony To Ford Sat Nav

Featured Replies

Today I'm picking up an 09 Titanium X Sport 2.2TDCi. It has the Sony head unit (not sure the model but it's this one http://www.jamessimpson.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/ford-mondeo-interior.jpg).

I was wondering, is there a Ford unit that I can replace this with that would give me Sat Nav but keep all other functionality that I currently have (BT, Convers+, etc)?

Im sorry, i dont know the answer to this but i would also like to know the answer for this! i bought my 2.0 TDCI mondeo titanium 3 weeks ago and would like to upgrade it, although some people said fords own satnav isn't very good.

Yeah, since posting that it seems the Ford Sat Nav isn't the best. It'd probably be worth keeping if it came with it but to retrofit it, maybe better of with an after market unit if you can cope without the Covers+ functionality for radio, music, etc

I think I'm now of the opinion that I'll just stick with what I have and retrofit USB to it, that way I can stick mp3's on a memory stick instead of burning CD's.

I was considering getting one of those Chinese units (such as this one http://www.talkford.com/community/topic/232785-acodo-dtg-411-sat-nav) but I'm not sure about the quality of the radio and sound and the fact that they usually run android or wince so take a while to boot up. If you do go down the Ford Sat Nav route, let me know how you get on.

I have an old after market one already, but didnt want to install into this car, instead i will be giving it to my wife.. I think i will give it a go! but will have to wait a couple of months as i need to pay off some other things 1st. But if im successfull i will re-post on here to let you know.
