i have the factory fitted satnav in my mondeo, and i still can not get any sats ,, well sometimes i might get one or more but most of the time it will not see any sats.

i have been looking at the arials on ebay [my arial for the radio has been shreaded] and the radio ones seem to be of 2 types, ones with satnav and ones without satnav ..

this has confused me as i thought that the sensors to pick up the sats are in the base mounting of the arial and not in the arial its self, or am i wrong ?? and all i need is a new arial whip for satnav ??

A lot of the problem is corrosion in the base of the aerial, it can be got at via removing the interior light a clean up normally restores satellite reception

i have yet to try that ,, B) . its just that i was looking to replace the radio arial as mine is splintered and the top is missing,

and as i was looking on ebay i noticed that there seems to be 2 types of arial ,one for cars with satnav and one for cars without satnav ,

i have no idea what the difference is between them if any at all.

well mi removed the arial mount from the roof, cleaned up best i could and now picking up one satellite on the gps,

ordered a arial whip on ebay for a mondeo with gps , fingers crossed that it fixes the problem..

well i have removed the mount from the roof ,, cleaned all contacts ,, replaced the arial with a new one ,, picking up radio stations with out them fading as i drive ,, but still can not get any satellites on the sat nav ,,

took the radio out and checked the connection on the rear of the unit ,,

now im totally stuck on what to do next.. :(
