59 Mondeo Tdci Leak Help

Featured Replies

Hi guys

My brother is running a 2.0 TDCI and it has quite a leak in the pipe in the photo. What is it and what is causing it? post-58340-142572999282_thumb.jpg

which pipe in particular as I cant see.

You have the turbo pipe in the bottom going into the head, you have the EGR shining pipe on the right next to the dipstick and what appears to be the fuel rail on the left

Sorry it is the main pipe with the jubilee clip on, one can see where oil has made it past the connection. Petrol cars I know about, diesels, not so much.

That looks to me like the turbo intercooler hose possibly feeding back into the engine? Is it split?

Doesn't look like it. The car has approx 160k but the oil being in that pipe has caused a bit of concern. The turbo is whistling but not overly loudly. Pipe work looks sound.

Oil is coming from the turbo I bet. It can leak which could be a bad sign for the turbo, but then again my cmax did it and it seems it was probably an overfilled engine the oil worked it's way out from the turbo, Kwak fit up tried to convince me it was turbo failure but it still worked about 6 months later lol

Ah ok I will tell my brother to check oil level, I don't think he can afford a new turbo!

to be honest its probably been doing this for ages (I know mine had).

Best thing to do is detach it, clean the pipe as much as possible, and then clean the turbo out as well, then keep an eye on it and see how much oil it spits out. Spitting a little amount is really no big deal, but if its spitting loads of the stuff, and there is play in all directions then the turbo might be on its last legs...
