My mondeo is down on power and there is white smoke on start up and heavy acceleration. Iam getting a strange gravely sound between 1500 and 2500 rpm. I have cleaned and blanked the egr ( not done the manifold yet) i am hoping its a split in the intercooler hose and have ordered a new one but looking at the engine this morning i noticed a gouge in this hose. Any advice or comments would be gratefully received.

    Not sure what that hose is, but white smoke indicates the presence of water & / or unburnt diesel
