Hi, Prob with fiesta gear change clutch noise thing!!

Featured Replies

Hi, Ive recently bought a ford fiesta ghia 53 reg, still got a couple months warranty but dont know where i stand with this prob. When changing gear from first to second also second to third, if i put a small bit of gas on whilst releasing the clutch i hear a sound very much like a fan belt slipping for a second or two. If im much smoother with the gear change, ie slow clutch release and no gas i can avoid it. Does this sound like a clutch slipping sound? Thats my best guess with limited knowledge. Thanks in advance for any bit of advice. Mike

It might well be an early symptom of clutch slip, but the car seems a bit young for that. Try to make a recording of the noise for the garage, and try hard to get them to sort it under warranty, because a lot of expensive work is required to gain access. If the engine revs start to go up faster than the road speed, then clutch slip is confirmed and a repair is very urgent (and expensive).

Good luck with it

Jason

Could be the release bearing
