Hi, Ive recently bought a ford fiesta ghia 53 reg, still got a couple months warranty but dont know where i stand with this prob. When changing gear from first to second also second to third, if i put a small bit of gas on whilst releasing the clutch i hear a sound very much like a fan belt slipping for a second or two. If im much smoother with the gear change, ie slow clutch release and no gas i can avoid it. Does this sound like a clutch slipping sound? Thats my best guess with limited knowledge. It might well be an early symptom of clutch slip, but the car seems a bit young for that. Try to make a recording of the noise for the garage, and try hard to get them to sort it under warranty, because a lot of expensive work is required to gain access. If the engine revs start to go up faster than the road speed, then clutch slip is confirmed and a repair is very urgent (and expensive).
